Two men, Ahmadan Rufai Akorede and Tiamiyu Oluwatobi Samuel, have been taken into custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State, facing allegations of rape and child molestation.

The 22-year-old Akorede is accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl at her school in Ilesa, forcing his genitals into her mouth. Meanwhile, Samuel, aged 20, is charged with raping a 12-year-old girl in Gbongan.

According to the NSCDC spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, Akorede’s arrest came after an investigation revealed his ongoing abuse of the young student since 2024.

In his confession, Akorede admitted to assaulting the child at the end of a school day, asking her to close the classroom windows before subjecting her to the heinous act. On March 26, 2025, Akorede was brought before a magistrate court in Ilesa, charged with the crime, and was remanded at the local correctional service.

In a separate incident, Samuel was apprehended on March 26, 2025, for the rape of the 12-year-old girl. His confession detailed a three-year acquaintance with the victim, during which he unsuccessfully attempted to make her his girlfriend.

On March 23, 2025, he allegedly dragged the girl into his room with the aid of an accomplice and, under threat of a cutlass, raped her. A medical report confirmed the girl’s hymen was ruptured. Samuel has also been remanded at the correctional service in Ilesa, pending further legal proceedings.

The Osun State NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, expressed deep concern over the persistence of such crimes despite the government’s pledge to impose maximum penalties.

He warned perpetrators of severe consequences and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant in protecting their children.
