The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has retracted the invitation extended to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi.
However, the police chief has instructed the Kano State command to obtain the monarch’s statement regarding the incident.
Egbetokun, who conveyed this directive through the police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, explained that the withdrawal was necessary following the intervention of various stakeholders in the country.
The police chief also affirmed that his decision aligns with the force’s commitment to ensuring that policing actions remain apolitical and are not subject to misinterpretation.
