Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has been recognised as the Leadership Governor of the Year 2024, a title that reflects the will of the people, according to Barrister Nana Ogbodo, Chairman of the Enugu Local Government Service Commission.
In a his goodwill message shared with JOURNALIST101, Barr. Ogbodo extended his congratulations to Governor Mbah, stating, “Your emergence as Leadership Governor of the Year 2024 is proof yet that while there may be a clutter of voices in the democratic space, the verdict of the people, curated through the media, will always be the ultimate arbiter of history.”
Ogbodo highlighted the award as a “positive referendum on your sterling performance as a public administrator and an astute manager of resources,” expressing pride in being associated with Mbah’s administration.
He added, “The tireless zeal that underpins your work ethic is translating your grand vision for Enugu State into a glorious dawn for all, regardless of creed, region or ethno-cultural block.”
Reflecting on the governor’s transformative leadership, Ogbodo remarked, “It is always gratifying to be a witness to moments when the march from dream to reality begins. Through you, we are connecting all the dots of development, from education to health, and from agriculture to tourism.”
The Leadership Newspaper, which bestowed the honour, noted Mbah’s “focused and purposeful leadership style, geared towards transformative development in Enugu,” describing him as a beacon of courageous reforms in the Southeast region.
Mbah’s diverse background in the oil and gas sector has informed his approach to governance. He founded Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited, where he earned a reputation for prudent resource management. The governor holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from the University of East London, a Barrister-at-Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, and a Master’s in Maritime and Commercial Law from Lagos State University.
Since taking office, Mbah has prioritised the state’s infrastructure development, demonstrating a commitment to innovative solutions and inclusive growth. His administration has successfully rehabilitated numerous urban and rural roads, with over 71 roads commissioned in just one year. This extensive investment is set to create an impressive 10,000 kilometres of roads within eight years, significantly enhancing the daily lives of Enugu residents.
As Ogbodo concluded, “We may not know what tomorrow holds; but we’re confident about tomorrow given what we have seen today under your stewardship.”
