Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and current representative for Abia North Senatorialdistrict, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Pascal Dozie, founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc and former chairman of MTN Nigeria.
Dozie, who was 85 years old, passed away in the early hours of Monday, April 8, 2025, as confirmed by his family.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Senator Kalu described Pascal Dozie as a “patriotic Nigerian” and a “distinguished statesman” whose contributions to national development were significant.
“Chief Pascal Dozie was a man of wisdom, peace, and honour,” Kalu remarked.
“He was a dedicated technocrat with great courage and determination, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and patriotism.”
The Dozie family, represented by his son Uzoma Dozie, announced the news of his passing, prompting an outpouring of condolences from various quarters. Senator Kalu extended his sympathies to the family, friends, and associates of the late elder statesman, acknowledging the great loss his death represents for the country.
Kalu urged the Dozie family to find solace in the “remarkable life he lived and the positive impact he made in the private sector.”
He concluded his tribute by praying for the peaceful repose of Pascal Dozie’s soul and imploring God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear their loss.
