Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and current Senator representing Abia North, has reaffirmed the unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, asserting that the party is prepared to face upcoming elections as a unified and robust entity.

This declaration was made during a strategic meeting with key stakeholders of the party at his Aso Villa residence in Abuja on Thursday. The gathering, organised by the party’s National Welfare Officer, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, in collaboration with the state leadership, aimed to devise a cohesive strategy for the APC’s success in Abia.

Senator Kalu dismissed notions of factionalism within the party, stating, “There is no faction in APC. I am committed to the rebuilding of the party and the overall unity of the APC in Abia State to support President Bola Tinubu in achieving his Renewed Hope agenda for the good of all Nigerians.”

Highlighting the significance of unity, collaboration, and respect among party members, he urged support for prominent Abia figures in government. “A tree cannot make a forest. Bring down your tempers; let’s move our party forward. This is the state of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. He needs our support, just like the Minister who is here with us today. If we are united and rally round them, they will become stronger—for the betterment of the party and our dear state. Nobody should disrespect them,” Kalu added.

The senator also conveyed his determination to secure electoral victories for the APC in the state. “I won’t allow President Bola Tinubu to lose Abia again. I won’t be around and it happens. So we must unite and forgive ourselves. If I have offended anyone, please forgive me. Let’s make this party stronger and better.”

Echoing this sentiment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, called for peace and reconciliation, stating, “I believe it is the right thing because there is no way, as a party, we would be able to achieve success if we don’t put our house together and pursue peace.”

Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, the National Welfare Secretary of the APC, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victories in future elections. “We have the people and everything we need to achieve success—people with goodwill and the goodwill of the people. We want to assure President Bola Tinubu that we are not begging anybody for 25% of the votes. We shall deliver APC. We endorse him for continuity and commend his genuineness and reforms. APC has come to stay in Abia,” he remarked.

On behalf of the state chairman, Chief Chidi Avajah, who also serves as the State Secretary of the party, praised the leaders for their demonstration of unity and reaffirmed that the Abia APC is united under one recognised chairman.

The meeting attracted notable political figures, including Chief Sam Nkire, Sir Marc Wabara, Chief Nyerere Anyim, and several other prominent party members, all committed to strengthening the APC in Abia.
