The Anambra State Police Command has issued a statement following the tragic shooting of a woman by a security operative, which occurred at Ibeto Junction in Nnewi on the evening of 15th April 2025. The victim has been identified as Chiamaka Okeke.
In a statement signed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Command has called for calm amidst the distressing news. “We are deeply saddened by this regrettable incident,” stated CP Orutugu.
“Our Command is actively engaging with the relevant security outfit to identify the suspect involved and ensure that justice is served.”
The Commissioner assured the public that thorough investigations are currently underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“We are committed to transparency and will keep the community informed of any significant developments,” he added.
The Anambra State Police Command “urges the public to remain peaceful while the investigation proceeds. Further updates will be provided as they become available.”
