The Enugu government has announced the cancellation of the environmental sanitation exercise that was set for Saturday, in light of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This decision was communicated in a statement by the Secretary to Enugu State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, on Tuesday.

Mr Onyia stated that the cancellation aims to allow candidates in the state who are sitting for the UTME, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, to participate in the examination.

He further noted that there would be no restrictions on movement on Saturday, and residents are encouraged to clean their surroundings.

A total of two million, thirty thousand six hundred and twenty-seven candidates have registered to take the examination, which is scheduled to commence on April 24 across the country. Among these, 41,026 candidates are below the age of 16.
