The National Conference of the Muslim and Christian Youths Integration for Good Leadership Initiative, initially scheduled for April 30th, 2025, in Enugu, has been postponed.
This decision follows the unforeseen closure of Enugu Airport, which has significantly disrupted travel arrangements for numerous attendees.
In a statement, the organisers conveyed their regret regarding the postponement, emphasising the importance of honouring the memory of four distinguished members who were tragically murdered in Jos. “Their loss is deeply felt, and we stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement indicated.
The statement, signed by the national secretary of the organisation, Aliyu Maryama, recognised the potential inconvenience this change may cause. “We deeply regret any inconvenience this postponement may cause to our participants, stakeholders, and supporters. Your unwavering commitment to fostering unity and good leadership among our youth remains our greatest source of inspiration.”
The conference was anticipated as a crucial event aimed at enhancing integration and understanding among Nigeria’s youth.
The organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders for their understanding and continued support. They also offered special thanks to the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Mbah, for his significant encouragement and backing in facilitating the initiative. “His dedication to fostering peace and unity among our communities is truly commendable.”
Aliyu further stated that “a new date for the conference will be announced in the near future as we remain steadfast in our commitment to the vision of promoting leadership and cooperation among Nigerian youths.”
