The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, is set to arrive in China shortly for a series of official engagements focused on securing water provision for Satellite Towns within the FCT.
Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, announced in a statement on Thursday that Minister Wike is currently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, en route to China.
During his visit to China, Wike will engage with officials from the China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction (CGCOC) Group.
It is important to note that during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to China last September, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with both the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and the CGCOC Group to enhance electricity and water supply in the FCT.
President Tinubu has underscored these initiatives as part of his vision to restore hope among FCT residents through the implementation of essential projects, including water supply.
In support of this initiative, the President allocated ₦50 billion for the provision of potable water in FCT satellite towns.
To adhere to the President’s directive ensuring water supply in the satellite towns of Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje Area Councils, Minister Wike has embarked on this important trip to China for discussions with the CGCOC Group.
He is anticipated to return to Nigeria next week.
