Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, the Executive Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence in Human Development by the Uma Ukpai School of Theology during its 6th Convocation and 7th Matriculation ceremony.
This distinguished award recognises Anike’s significant contributions to the advancement of human development during the event held on Saturday, 3rd May 2025.
In his acceptance speech, Engr. Anike expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award. It reflects the hard work and commitment of my administration towards uplifting our community through human capital development.”
The award comes as a testament to his administration’s dedication to human capital development, one of its three core programmes. Over the past six months, his leadership has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and opportunities for the youth and women in Enugu East Council area .
Key achievements include the implementation of the Enugu East Human Capital Development Bye-Law, which has facilitated the training of over 350 youths and women in both soft and hard skills. Additionally, the administration launched the Greater Tomorrow Scholarship Scheme, providing full scholarships to 50 SS1 students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Engr. Anike further highlighted, “We have also ensured that 1,700 SS3 students have their WAEC fees paid, and we are currently profiling over 600 undergraduates for bursary awards and full scholarships for we believe that eucation is the foundation of our future, and we are committed to providing our youth with the necessary tools to succeed.”

The nomination for this prestigious award was made by Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, President and Proprietor of the Uma Ukpai School of Theology, who commended Engr. Anike for his remarkable efforts in fostering human development.
This recognition not only celebrates Engr. Anike’s achievements but also serves as an inspiration for continued efforts in developing human capital within the council.
