Governor Peter Mbah Flags Off Road Construction, Commissions Rural Electrification Projects in Enugu East LG

In a significant step towards enhancing infrastructure and restoring public trust in governance, Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, over the weekend, officially flagged off a road construction project and commissioned rural electrification projects executed by the chairman of the council, Engr. Beloved-Dan Anike

The projects include; the construction of 1.74km Ugwuomu Smart School Road which when completed, will link Nkwubor and Emene Nike communities; 500KVA transformers for Akpuoga Nike and Nchatancha Nike communities, procured, installed and energized by Engr. Anike’s administration.

Speaking during the events, Governor Mbah, represented by Hon. Deacon Okey Ogbodo, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development, emphasised the State Government’s commitment to transformative projects throughout all political wards in Enugu State.

Deacon Ogbodo reiterated the State Government’s dedication to fostering disruptive innovations across all sectors, urging the community to show their appreciation for the Governor’s extensive developmental efforts. He stated, “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

The traditional ruler of the Mbulu Anwuri autonomous community, while welcoming the team at his palace in Ugwuomu Nike, acknowledged and praised the remarkable work being undertaken by the Governor.

He also expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his community-focused leadership and developmental projects, highlighting the Ugwuomu Smart School road as a prime example.

Chief Jude Ugwu, the PG of Ugwuomu Nike community, conveyed his delight and satisfaction with the ongoing initiatives from the State Government, recognising the positive impact on both their local community and the wider state.

Hon. Dr. Felix Nnanyelugo Nnamani, the Hon. Commissioner for Water Resources in Enugu State and a notable figure from the community, commended Governor Mbah for his visionary leadership and innovative approach. He referenced the Type 2 PHC centre, the Enugu Smart Green School, and the road project recently flagged off in Ugwuomu Nike community.

Other speakers at the event, including Mrs Maria Ede, the councilor representing Mbulu Jodo East ward, and the PG of Mbulu Anwuri autonomous community, expressed unwavering support for the State Government and Engr. Anike’s leadership of the Enugu East Local Government.

In his address, Engr. Anike stated that his administration aligns with the vision and innovative strategies of the State Government. He highlighted that the road construction project reflects the State Government’s directive to develop all roads leading to the Enugu Green Smart Schools.

He also shared additional efforts being made to address the road infrastructure deficit in the council area, including a comprehensive Road Infrastructure Needs Assessment, grading over 50km of road; the ongoing construction of 1km Ifo layout – Harmony estate link road with a 3 cell culvert, opening of about 10km virgin road from Onyoho Nike to Owum waterfall among many others.

Addressing the community’s water needs, the Mayor assured residents that the Local Government would facilitate the State Government’s WASH programme by contributing the counterpart funding necessary to ensure water provision for the community.

Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Chairman of Enugu East LGA, Hon. Engr. Kingsley Obi Anike; the Secretary to Enugu East Local Government, Barr. Uche Mbaeke; and various Supervisors for Works, Education, and Agriculture, along with other political appointees and party leaders.
