The Executive Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, has received two prestigious awards in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment to community development, and promotion of inclusive governance.
During the 2025 Annual Lecture of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Enugu State Branch, Engr. Anike was presented with a golden award for his exceptional contributions to mediation advocacy, community development, and service to humanity.
As a Fellow of ICMC, Engr. Anike was commended for institutionalizing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in Enugu East. Notably, he recently passed a landmark law establishing the Enugu East Land Mediation Center, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at peaceful conflict resolution.
“Engr. Anike has continued to demonstrate a unique blend of visionary governance and grassroots impact,” the ICMC said in its commendation. “His leadership embodies the values of peacebuilding and development that our institute upholds.”
The award also highlighted several of his key developmental projects:
- Installation of new 500 KVA transformers in 13 rural and urban communities as part of a far-reaching electrification initiative.
- Enrolment of over 5,000 residents into the Enugu State Universal Health Coverage scheme.
- Execution of ongoing road construction projects to enhance mobility and infrastructure across the LGA.
In a related event, the Yoruba community in Enugu State also honored Engr. Anike with an Award of Excellence for his “Detribalized Leadership.” The award, presented by the Oba of the Yoruba community, Alhaji Adebayo Abdullazeez Olatunji, recognized the chairman’s inclusive governance style, which has promoted unity and growth among both indigenous and non-indigenous residents.
“Engr. Anike is a leader sent by God for a specific assignment,” said Oba Olatunji during the award presentation. “We pray that God continues to strengthen him as he serves the people of Enugu East with humility and purpose.”
The Yoruba delegation, comprising influential community leaders, praised his administration’s achievements in human capital development, women inclusion, and rural infrastructure, stating that they have felt the positive impact of his leadership first-hand.
These twin recognitions underscore Engr. Anike’s rising profile as a transformative and inclusive local government leader. His vision continues to position Enugu East LGA as a model of liveability, sustainability, and unity within Nigeria and across Africa.
