His Royal Highness Eze Desmond Nnamdi Ali, the Obi II of Obinnoha Autonomous Community in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State, has been exonerated from a series of damaging allegations circulated on social media in recent weeks. A thorough independent investigation has revealed that the claims—portraying the traditional ruler as a fraudster—were entirely false and orchestrated with malicious intent.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the allegations were part of a coordinated effort by a former associate of the monarch to tarnish his image after a personal relationship deteriorated.
“What was circulated against His Royal Highness, Eze Desmond Nnamdi Ali, by someone bent on tarnishing his image, were lies,” a source disclosed. “To show how desperate the lady was, she even lied that he was living in a single room in Abuja, just to diminish his status and make her story sound more believable.”
In one of the reports, the accuser described Eze Ali as a “self-imposed traditional ruler”—a claim that drew immediate skepticism. “Can any individual impose himself as a traditional ruler?” the source questioned. “The answer is no.”
Interestingly, the same report that claimed the monarch lived in a single room in Abuja also alleged that he paraded himself as the owner of a large estate on Thaba Tseka Street in Wuse 2, as well as vast lands across Abuja. “That contradiction alone shows the desperation,” the source said. “You can’t claim he lives in one room and also owns an entire compound.”
The entire controversy appears to stem from a failed romantic relationship. “Eze Nnamdi once dated the lady, and he never denied that,” the source confirmed. “His only ‘sin’ was offering legal aid to a widow, Lotanna Eze, who sought his help in reclaiming her late husband’s property.”
Lotanna Eze had approached Eze Ali claiming that her late husband’s family had denied her rightful inheritance. However, as legal proceedings progressed, the monarch discovered that she had in fact been legally divorced from her late husband, billionaire Chief Emeka Eze, well before his death.
“Her story began to fall apart in court,” the investigation found. “She couldn’t substantiate her claims and even went as far as attempting to claim property that belonged to the deceased’s first child. When Eze Ali advised her to stop and seek reconciliation, she turned against him.”
According to the investigation, the traditional ruler initially invested his time and resources to help Lotanna based on her fabricated story. “He later discovered that her claims were not only misleading but also backed by forged documents,” a source close to the investigation said. One such forgery was a fake deed of gift purportedly granting Lotanna a property near UBA bank at 1X Plaza, Wuse. “That document turned out to be nonexistent in official databases.”
Realizing the deceit, Eze Ali distanced himself from the matter and urged Lotanna to pursue peace with her late husband’s family. “Falsehood will do you no good,” he reportedly advised her. “Let your children resolve their differences with their siblings and build unity.”
The monarch’s insistence on truth and legal integrity marked the turning point. “That advice broke the camel’s back,” the source explained. “She immediately saw him as an enemy and launched a smear campaign against him.”
In what appeared to be a retaliatory move, Lotanna reportedly paid for a media publication accusing Eze Ali of intimidation and fraud. Ironically, the same report that labeled him a “self-imposed traditional ruler” also acknowledged his title in accusing him of using his position to manipulate others. “Is the drama not getting interesting?” a source remarked.
The report further alleged that Eze Ali took large sums of money from Lotanna under the pretense of helping her. But the investigation pointed out that the funds were used in a legal process she initiated based on forged documents. “When you forge documents and go to court, the money spent is bound to be wasted,” the report noted. “You cannot turn around and blame the person who tried to help you in good faith.”
Eventually, after the matter was brought to the attention of the state government, an independent panel was constituted to investigate the petition. The panel found no wrongdoing on the part of the monarch and issued him a clean bill of conduct.
This development has vindicated Eze Desmond Nnamdi Ali, reaffirming his status as a respected traditional leader and a man of integrity who was unfortunately caught in the crossfire of a personal vendetta.
Desmond Nnamdi Ali is a fraudster who parades himself as a traditional leader and medical doctor. He is makong a desperate attempt to hoodwink the general public with this publication.
Desmond Nnamdi Ali was arrested in the early hours of the 6th of May by EFCC operatives at his current residence in the Jahi District in Abuja. He remained in custody answering to reports of him swindling a widow he has identified as Lotanna Eze of over $265,000 and about N200,000,000. He was released on administrative bail on the 22nd of May 2025.
He has been making frantic efforts, contacting friends and associates of Lotanna Eze, asking for a meeting to “resolve” matters. He had previously said the money in question were gifts as he claims to have had a ” mutual relationship” with the victim.
On 11/6/2025 he failed to report at the offices of the EFCC and sent in a letter through his counsel, claiming to have been summoned by His Exellency Hope Uzodinma to answer to questions arising from the media reports of his activities.

DESMOND NNAMDI ALI IS AN UNREPENTANT CRIMINAL, AN IMPOSTER AND A FRAUDSTER
DAYS AFTER BEING GRANTED BAIL BY EFCC TO RAISE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS HE DUPED ABUJA WIDOW, DESMOND ALI DENIES ARREST, WHY HE’S A WANTED MAN IN HIS IMO VILLAGE
It is no longer news that self-acclaimed Eze of Obinnoha, Desmond Ali is an embattled and conman. Ever since the story broke about his atrocities, he has made several efforts to cover his tracks and present a normal facade. Behind this however is a man who is running from pillar to post to raise hundreds of millions he was supposed to have refunded to the Abuja widow he swindled.
Desmond who falsely parades himself as Eze of a community where he is more or less persona non grata was with the EFCC between May 6 and May 22, 2025.
While with the Commission, he was grilled on the circumstances surrounding his absconding after collecting money running into hundred of millions from an Abuja widow. After a lot of grilling, he owned up to collecting the money at various times. His case was subsequently moved from the EFCC headquarters in Jabi to the Wuse 2 office of the Commission because it also involved issues relating to property.
Sources gathered that he was released on administrative bail with the strict terms that he raised the money he took from the woman within some stipulated days. Multiple reports however however confirm that he has not been able to raise the money and has been running from pillar to post.
Meanwhile, since the story broke, we have been inundated with atrocities he committed which led to his absconding from the community he claims to rule. ‘Imagine a traditional ruler who dare not step into his domain’, a source quipped.
Abujareporters gathered that Desmond Ali has been involved in abduction, kidnapping, extortion and a lot of other nefarious activities which necessitated his being paraded on the streets of the community. Indeed, in one clear instance a 10-yr old boy who was kidnapped was found in his house and the soldiers who came to rescue the kid arrested and paraded him with other criminals.
This wasn’t a one-off case. The self-acclaimed traditional ruler, who cannot pinpoint when he was officially crowned or Coronated by the community or Imo State government had other brushes with the law. The irony of it all was that, he was always in and out of police detention for cases ranging from sexually assaulting a minor, and keeping same in his house for weeks even with his wife under the same roof, extorting money from citizens in the community and threatening them with arrest if they do not pay up, sending criminals to go after upright officers. With friends in high places especially among law enforcers, he was always able to get bailed out.
It was all these that culminated in the decision of the community to come after him, which led to his running away for over two years now. Meanwhile in Abuja where he now plies his trade as a big time fraudster, he wears regalia indicating that he’s a traditional ruler. He has been a major name dropper and easily drops pictures with top celebrities to ‘obtain’ from his victims
