In a major step toward building a tech-driven future, the Enugu State Government has launched a 50% Digital Skills Scholarship targeting 300 youths across the state.

The initiative is being driven by the Enugu SME Center under the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy and MSMEs, Arinze Chilo-Offiah, in collaboration with AltSchool Africa and Bybit.

The scholarship supports the State’s broader Human Capital Development agenda by offering access to UK-accredited diploma programs in high-demand technology fields — fully online, with expert-led mentorship and live instruction.

“This is more than a scholarship,” said Arinze Chilo-Offiah. “It’s a deliberate push to position Enugu as Nigeria’s premier hub for digital talent. We’re lowering financial barriers and opening the door to global opportunities for our youths.”

World-Class Tech Training at Half the Cost

The full tuition for the 12-month program is ₦435,000, but beneficiaries will pay only ₦217,500, thanks to the state’s 50% Digital Skills Grant. To further ease access, the Enugu SME Center is offering a zero-interest Human Capital Development Loan (HCDL) option, which allows candidates to make an initial deposit of ₦108,750 and spread the remaining balance across 12 monthly payments of ₦9,062.50.

The program gives admission priority to those who either pay in full or enroll through the HCDL plan, ensuring that the most committed applicants are selected.

Choose from Ten Globally Relevant Tech Fields

Participants can specialize in any of the following diploma tracks:

  • Frontend Engineering
  • Backend Engineering
  • Cybersecurity
  • Cloud Engineering

  • Data Analytics
  • Data Engineering

  • Product Management

Graduates will earn UK-accredited diplomas, enjoy membership in AltSchool Africa’s global alumni network, and receive structured career support and internship placements.

“This partnership ensures Enugu youths are not just trained but prepared to compete in the global tech economy,” said a representative of AltSchool Africa. “The curriculum is rigorous and aligned with international industry standards.”

The Enugu SME Center continues to lead in micro, small, and medium enterprise support, digital upskilling, and youth empowerment under the guidance of Arinze Chilo-Offiah.

“Our goal is clear,” Chilo-Offiah concluded. “We want to empower Enugu youth with the tools to become not just job seekers, but global leaders in the tech space.”
