Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in a criminal syndicate that defrauded a victim of two truckloads of cement worth ₦17 million.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects—Nnanna Charles and Okoye Chukwunonso—were arrested in possession of the stolen goods after a complaint was lodged at the 33 Police Station.

The victim had reportedly met one Edwin Emeka, the primary suspect now at large, through an online platform. The two had been in regular communication until the victim agreed to supply the cement.

“Immediately the cement was supplied, all attempts to get to Edwin proved abortive,” Ikenga stated.

However, swift police investigations led operatives to trace the goods to various shops within the state, where the suspects were apprehended.

“The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogations to provide more information on how to arrest Edwin and other syndicate members,” the police spokesman added.

SP Ikenga advised the public to remain vigilant, particularly when engaging with strangers online for business or personal dealings.

“This case highlights the importance of vigilance, especially with those we meet online, to prevent harm or loss of life and property,” he said.

He also confirmed that the case will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out fraudsters and ensuring the safety and economic well-being of residents.
