The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nkanu East Local Government Area has lauded Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his transformational strides just two years into his administration, describing his performance as “unprecedented anywhere in Nigeria in the current democratic dispensation.”
The party passed a formal vote of commendation during its monthly meeting held at the Council headquarters in Amagunze on Saturday, citing massive infrastructure development, smart educational reforms, and agricultural revitalisation efforts as reasons for their overwhelming support.
The commendation comes as the Member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, donated 28 motorcycles to PDP Youth Leaders in the 14 wards of Nkanu East and 14 wards of Nkanu West LGAs to aid grassroots mobilisation and awareness on Governor Mbah’s ongoing development initiatives.
In separate remarks, key political figures — including Hon. Nnaji; the Member representing Nkanu East State Constituency, Hon. Okey Mbah; PDP Zonal Chairman for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Chief Nnamdi Nwafor; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor (Media Relations), Uche Anichukwu; PDP Chairman, Nkanu East, Hon. Cornelius Edeh; and the Local Government Woman Leader, Mrs. Chinwe Mbah — praised Governor Mbah for his frugal and effective use of state resources.
“We have considered that each of the 260 wards in Enugu State has at least one Smart Green School and one Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centre ongoing or completed and an ultramodern Farm Estate ongoing or about to take off. We have considered the road projects ongoing in every nook and cranny of the state. We have considered the investment in security infrastructure that has improved security in Enugu State,” Hon. Okey Mbah said.
“To put things in perspective, Enugu State was among the very few states given a clean bill of health in the latest UK Government Travel Advisory guiding their citizens on where to travel to and states they should avoid, given the security risks. This is a foreign government. So, it has nothing to do with politics.
“We have further considered that our moribund state assets, such as Nigergas, International Conference Centre, Enugu United Palm Products Limited, Hotel Presidential, have all come back to life.
“So, it is only proper that we have passed this vote of commendation, which we shall also convey to the governor to reassure him of our appreciation of his effort and, more importantly, our unalloyed support.”
While handing over the motorcycles, Hon. Nnaji reaffirmed his commitment to empowering grassroots party leaders. He stressed the need for rural communities to be educated about the ongoing projects and encouraged them to take ownership of and protect these assets.
He also commended the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, Hon. Okechukwu Edeh, for aligning with Governor Mbah’s high-impact leadership style by delivering projects such as the newly completed Ojorowo Bridge and upgrading infrastructure at the council headquarters.
In his remark, the leader of the Enugu State PDP monitoring team to the meeting, Hon. Tobias Odinwankpa, applauded the high turnout and charged party leaders not to relent in mobilising and enlightening the people.
Other dignitaries at the meeting included the Special Adviser (Legal) to the Governor, Barr. Osinachi Nnajieze, among others.
