Ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has instructed all registered support groups in the state to mobilize en masse and form a colourful procession along the road from the airport to Government House in Makurdi.
In a letter signed by Hon. Francis U. Ngutswen, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Groups Mobilization, the directive was issued “at the instance” of Governor Alia to ensure a “rousing welcome” for President Tinubu, who is expected to address a town-hall meeting in the state capital.
“I am pleased to notify you at the instance of our dear Governor, His Excellency Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia… to mobilize massively to give a rousing welcome to our President,” the letter read.
Support groups are required to participate in a shoulder-to-shoulder “colourful spread/procession” starting from the airport, passing through Wurukum Roundabout, and ending at Government House, Makurdi.
“The Support Groups Constituency is required to form a colourful shoulder-to-shoulder spread/procession… where the President will address a Town-hall Meeting,” the letter added.
The mobilization will be organized based on accreditation “strictly by the numbers and colours,” according to the document. Group leaders are expected to liaise with the Office of the SSA on Special Groups Mobilization for further details.
“Kindly accept the Governor’s gratitude for your commitment and be assured of my highest regards and esteem,” Hon. Ngutswen concluded.
