The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has pledged to provide essential infrastructure in Wassa District to facilitate the long-awaited relocation of Apo Mechanics traders and dealers from their current site along the Outer Southern Expressway corridor.
Wike made this promise in Abuja on Friday during the inauguration of a relocation committee tasked with overseeing the movement of the traders to their permanent site in Wassa.
The minister, who will chair the committee, announced that its membership includes the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, the Directors of Development Control, Land, Urban and Regional Planning, Survey, and Resettlement and Compensation.
Acknowledging years of failed efforts by previous administrations, Wike said the relocation promise made since 2011 has remained unfulfilled.
“It’s been promise on promise since 2011 without fulfilment, but Tinubu has promised, and the process has begun,” Wike stated.
He explained that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is now committed to keeping the promise and has initiated the necessary groundwork to ensure its success.

“As part of the process, on June 27, together with the leaders of Apo Mechanics, we will all visit Wassa to see the permanent site for the relocation,” Wike revealed.
“This will enable us to decide on the needed critical infrastructure to be put in place to facilitate your relocation. This collective effort is to ensure that Tinubu’s promise is fulfilled.”
The minister also urged the traders and dealers to maintain unity and cooperation, warning against internal conflicts that could derail progress.
“One of the businesses of the government is to make people happy,” he said.
“The FCT Administration will do everything possible to make the Apo traders and dealers happy.”
