The Guild of Public Affairs Analysts of Nigeria (GPAAN) has described the infrastructural strides of the Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah-led administration in Enugu State as “visionary, bold, and transformational,” following a comprehensive tour of key government projects between June 16 and 18, 2025.

Speaking during a press conference in Enugu on June 21, GPAAN Chairman, Dr. Ambrose Igboke, said the purpose of the tour was to independently verify and assess the scale and quality of the state’s ongoing development efforts.

“What we have seen in the past three days is not just construction work. It is a deliberate, well-thought-out blueprint aimed at repositioning Enugu for global relevance,” Igboke declared.

He continued, “We are not here as cheerleaders of government. Our job is to hold the government accountable, commend when due, and make recommendations where necessary. But it is important that we speak the truth: Enugu is undergoing a quiet revolution.”

Dr. Igboke commended Governor Mbah’s vision for urban expansion and rural integration, noting particularly the New Enugu City project.

“The New Enugu City is one of the most ambitious and forward-looking projects in the Southeast. It will open up space, create jobs, and help lift the state’s GDP. This is not just urban development—it is economic transformation.”

The team toured a range of facilities including the GTC-TVET vocational institute, the NOTRA-Enugu Tractor Assembly Plant, the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, several modern transport terminals, the International Conference Center, Presidential Hotel, and the new Command and Control Center.

At the GTC-TVET college, the analysts were impressed by the quality of technical equipment and the digital focus of the curriculum. “This is how you prepare a generation for global competition,” said Igboke. “From primary school to JSS3, children will learn skills in ICT, electronics, and hospitality. That’s a generational investment.”

Commenting on the tractor assembly plant, he said, “Agriculture is being redefined in Enugu. With 200 tractors already delivered and plans for 800 more, and with trained technicians to maintain them, this is sustainable mechanised farming—crucial for food security and export.”

At the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, GPAAN observed ongoing expansion funded through internal revenue. “This is fiscal discipline in action,” Dr. Igboke said.

“The twin six-storey buildings, new ambulances, increased staffing, and modernised triage units show that Governor Mbah is prioritising healthcare.”

He added: “We were particularly impressed by the Command and Control Center. The AI-enabled thermal cameras and real-time vehicle tracking systems rival what you find in the most advanced cities. It’s no exaggeration to say Enugu is becoming Nigeria’s smart security capital after Lagos.”

The International Conference Center and the Presidential Hotel were praised for their ongoing renovations. “We saw workers on site and according to the project manager, they work 24 hours a day at the Presidential Hotel,” Igboke noted.

“The NBA conference coming in August will return this iconic hotel to its rightful place. Enugu will be ready.”

GPAAN also visited the international specialist hospital, describing it as a “future regional hub for medical excellence.” “The oxygen plants, smart lifts, and the six-storey complex are designed to deliver care that would ordinarily require travel abroad,” he said.

Other stops included the fully operational Enugu Asphalt Plant, the bio-fenced pilot farm estate in Akpawfu, and a newly built bridge in Nkanu East that replaced a colonial-era death trap. “This bridge, funded in partnership with the local government, is a model of what LGAs can do with vision and support,” Igboke stated.

He urged state ministries and departments to intensify public awareness of these achievements. “These projects are too impactful to be hidden. The people need to know what their government is doing. This transparency will build trust and inspire civic engagement.”

Concluding, Dr. Igboke emphasized: “Governor Mbah is not just building roads and schools; he is building the future. Enugu is on a new trajectory—and what we’ve seen gives us hope that this transformation is real, intentional, and enduring.”
