President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing infrastructural transformation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), praising it as a catalyst for economic revival and social wellbeing.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday during the inauguration of the newly constructed interchange linking Wole Soyinka Way (Arterial Road N20) to the Murtala Mohammed Expressway, Tinubu—represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio—declared that his administration is “proud of what is happening in the FCT.”

The interchange is the 11th out of 17 projects earmarked for commissioning to mark the second year of Tinubu’s administration.

“We are proud of what is happening in the FCT,” Tinubu said. “Even the blind can see the ongoing transformation.”

The president lauded the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his team for the remarkable progress, describing the development as a reflection of the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which he said is anchored on robust infrastructure as the foundation for national development.

“Our nation’s infrastructure must be strong, clear and efficient to pump life into its economy and foster social wellbeing,” Tinubu stated.

He said the newly commissioned interchange is not only a feat of engineering but a strategic project that would significantly ease traffic, promote commerce, and improve productivity.

“This will contribute directly to increasing productivity and a better quality of life for all who traverse these vital routes. The interchange is indeed a testament to our unwavering commitment to progress, a beacon of our collective aspiration for a more connected and prosperous FCT,” he said.

While acknowledging that urbanisation is a sign of growth, the president noted that it comes with challenges—especially in the area of mobility. He said the interchange addresses these issues by alleviating congestion, improving safety, and enhancing daily life in the city.

He commended Minister Wike’s “dynamic leadership” and dedication to transforming Abuja into a world-class capital, adding that projects like this are a reflection of that vision.

In his remarks, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike revealed that the project was initially awarded in 2020 but was completed under Tinubu’s administration, in line with the president’s policy of completing legacy and abandoned projects.

“This is in line with your policy of completing abandoned projects that will impact the lives and economy of the people,” Wike said.

He also praised Tinubu’s leadership style, calling it the reason behind the visible progress across the country.

“When you provide the right leadership, you will get the right results. As the president has provided and is still providing the right leadership, that is why we are seeing the results today,” Wike said. “There’s no magic. It’s just about commitment. The president has committed to see that good things happen in this country and that’s why we have renewed hope.”

The minister also extended gratitude to the National Assembly for their continuous support.

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, added that the interchange stands as “a testament to President Tinubu’s visionary leadership” and his dedication to improving transportation and easing movement for residents of the capital.
