APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje

Barring any last-minute change of plan, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, is expected to tender his resignation on Friday.

Sources told DAILY NIGERIAN that Mr Ganduje would step down and be replaced by a national vice chairman of the party in an acting capacity, pending the party’s national convention slated for December.

According to insiders, the move aims to pacify growing agitation from stakeholders in the North-Central region and address mounting internal opposition within the ruling party.

Recall that the former governor of Kano State, was appointed National Chairman in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu as chairman. Since his appointment, several stakeholders from the North-Central zone have consistently demanded the return of the party’s chairmanship to the region.

Sources further disclosed that Ganduje was persuaded to resign as part of the APC’s broader strategy to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
