The Progressives Group, an independent political movement, has congratulated Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori on his appointment as Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the controversial resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by its leader, Dr. Ben Nwoye, the group praised Dalori’s leadership pedigree and called on him to immediately apply his experience to stabilize the APC, which has been thrown into uncertainty by Ganduje’s sudden exit.

“On behalf of the Progressives Group, I warmly congratulate Hon. Dalori on his appointment as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Nwoye stated.

The group noted that Ganduje’s resignation, said to be linked to health concerns but clouded by controversy, has left the ruling party at a crossroads, and Dalori’s leadership comes at a critical time.

Nwoye highlighted Dalori’s proven track record, stating:
“Under your leadership as Deputy National Chairman (North), the APC Northern region witnessed remarkable growth and cohesion within its party structure. Your strategic vision and experience as a true grassroots politician prepared you for the job.”

The statement also recalled Dalori’s success as APC Chairman in Borno State, where his strategic mobilisation efforts secured sweeping electoral victories for the party.

“Your leadership style first gained national prominence when you became Chairman of the APC State Chairmen Forum, where you demonstrated unparalleled collegiate leadership that earned you tremendous respect from peers nationwide,” Nwoye added.

Emphasizing the urgent need for Dalori to heal rifts within the APC, Nwoye said:
“As you step into this vital role, your legacy as a bridge-builder and political stabilizer is expected to come to the fore immediately. The challenges ahead require decisiveness, inclusion, and unity. We wish you success.”

The Progressives Group, while independent and not aligned with any ruling party, underscored its interest in seeing political parties in Nigeria strengthened for the good of the nation’s democracy.

“Congratulations once again, Mr. Chairman,” the statement concluded.

Dalori’s appointment follows Ganduje’s abrupt resignation, which has sparked debate across political circles about the circumstances surrounding his departure and the future of the APC under new leadership.
