Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for the positions of the National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BOT), and the South East Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the crisis currently rocking the party.

Mbah also threw his weight behind the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP slated for Monday, June 30, 2025. He declared that although he remains a member of the party, he is growing disillusioned by the internal wrangling that has turned the PDP into what he described as “an endless circus.”

The governor stated this on Sunday in Enugu after a closed-door meeting with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; PDP BOT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara; South East Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa; and other key party stakeholders at the Enugu Government House.

Mbah stressed that the South East’s position on the party’s National Secretaryship must be respected, warning that failure to do so could compel the zone to reconsider its future in the PDP.

“For the record, just as I stated during my interactive session with Fellows and Members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Enugu at the weekend, while I am still a member of the PDP, the South East — and that includes me — reserves the right to review our continued membership of the party if the party is unwilling to put its house in order,” he said.

“That was invariably the position adopted during our last South East Zonal meeting held here in Enugu. During that meeting, the caucus noted that the party should not disregard the zone’s stand regarding the National Secretary position. To all intents and purposes, this has obviously not been the case. So, there is no doubt as to where I stand on the matter.

“The position of the South East with respect to the National Secretaryship of the party as issued in that communique is sacrosanct,” Mbah insisted.

Other PDP chieftains present at the meeting included former National Chairman and BOT member, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo; Senator Sam Egwu; Iyom Josephine Anenih; Senator Ben Obi; and Hon. Udeh-Okoye, among others.
