A prominent Presbyterian cleric, Rev Ukpai Kalu Otah, has thrown his weight behind the continued representation of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the National Assembly, calling on the people of Abia North and the entire state to support his return beyond 2027.

Speaking during a Sunday service in Ohafia Local Government Area, Rev Otah described Senator Kalu as “the most qualified, most experienced, and most impactful senator Abia North has ever produced.”

The cleric emphasized that former Abia Governor’s return to the Senate for a third term would elevate him to a ranking lawmaker status, thereby attracting more federal presence, development projects, and political visibility to the region.

“We need someone with experience and influence. Kalu’s return means better roads, increased federal presence, more employment opportunities, and a louder voice for our people. Uche Chukwumerije spent 12 years in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe has been there since 2007, Ali Ndume is a fourth-term senator, Ahmed Lawan, and even Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was in the House of Representatives for 12 years,” Rev Otah said.

He noted that Senator Kalu remains the only politician in Abia State who commands goodwill across all three senatorial zones—Abia North, Central, and South—thanks to his legacy as a two-term governor and a productive senator.

“Even Governor Otti admitted that he’s using Orji Kalu’s development blueprint. That says a lot. President Obasanjo didn’t call him ‘Action Governor’ for nothing, and now he’s ‘Action Senator’,” he added.

Rev Otah also outlined Kalu’s notable economic contributions to Abia State, which include:

  • The Sun Heaven Hotel in Umuahia
  • A cashew processing factory in Igbere
  • A metal conversion plant
  • A paper conversion plant in Aba
  • Sun FM radio stations in Igbere and Aba
  • An ongoing private university in Igbere
  • A renewable energy production factory—the first of its kind in the South East

“He is not just a politician; he’s a builder, a visionary, and a God-fearing leader. His investments are improving lives and creating jobs. We must not allow outsiders to dim our light.”

The clergyman urged political stakeholders, community leaders, and constituents to ensure Senator Kalu returns unopposed in 2027, describing his re-election bid as “a divine mission.”

“This is about legacy, progress, and purpose. Senator Kalu must continue. For the sake of Abia North, we must all stand behind him,” he declared.
