Enugu Police Commissioner CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa,

The Enugu State Police Command has dismissed widespread reports alleging that a young woman was murdered in a hotel in Nsukka for ritual purposes and that her organs were harvested.

According to the police, these claims are “false, misleading, and capable of inciting unnecessary panic.”

In an official statement issued on July 1, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, clarified that preliminary investigations found no evidence of mutilation or organ removal.

“The remains of the deceased woman were found intact, without any indication of mutilation or organ harvesting, as widely speculated. Evidence suggests she may have been strangled, as her body was discovered with bloodstains around her mouth and a swollen neck,” Ndukwe stated.

The police report indicates that on June 14, 2025, the victim checked into a hotel along Obukpa Road, Nsukka, with an unidentified male suspect. The man reportedly checked out the next morning, claiming that the woman had left earlier. However, hotel staff later discovered her lifeless body in the room.

The body was taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed her death, before it was moved to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) to intensify efforts to trace and apprehend the fleeing suspect.

“We are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case. I strongly caution individuals and media outlets spreading unfounded and sensational narratives to desist, as they only mislead the public and undermine our ongoing investigation,” CP Giwa warned.

The police assured the public that updates would be provided as investigations progress and urged anyone with useful information to come forward.
