The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Senate President, Mr. David Mark, has stated that the party has not endorsed any presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Kogi chapter of the ADC in Abuja on Tuesday, Mark assured Nigerians that his leadership would uphold transparency and fairness in all party affairs.
“The ADC has no preferred or favorite presidential aspirant, but has set out to first put out a platform that would be attractive and acceptable to the majority of Nigerians,” he declared.
“We are doing this because we do not want this great ship called Nigeria to sink, because if we do not rise up now and it sank, all of us will be affected,” he added.
Mark emphasized that all members of the party are equal stakeholders. “I don’t own this party more than any of our members, and I urge all members to prepare to show Nigerians that ADC is a different party,” he said.
“A different party that is ready to properly run democracy in our country. All Nigerians must come together and take ownership of the ADC,” he added.
He called on members to set aside their differences and work in unity, stressing the importance of building the party first before personal ambitions. “We must bond together to build the party before we can talk of ambitions,” he said.
Mark also condemned divisive politics and urged politicians to focus on national issues, particularly insecurity. “Let us continue to work to rebuild our nation and bring out her best in the overall interest of future generations,” he urged.
Meanwhile, the ADC’s National Legal Support Group has raised concerns over legal actions being filed against the party by individuals who, they claim, are not registered members.
Mohammed Sheriff, who leads the legal group, said, “The names being used to file the suit were neither in the ADC physical nor digital registers in Kogi and Nasarawa States.”
He affirmed that the legal team was prepared to defend the party. “No fewer than 97 lawyers have indicated their preparedness to stand for the party,” he disclosed.
