President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Saturday night following a two-week diplomatic mission that took him to Saint Lucia and Brazil, marking the conclusion of his latest round of international engagements.
Upon arrival at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the President was welcomed by top-ranking government officials, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko; and Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.
President Tinubu had departed Nigeria on June 28, 2025, beginning his tour with a state visit to Saint Lucia. The visit was aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties with Caribbean nations and bolstering South-South cooperation. His presence coincided with the Caribbean nation’s celebration of its 45th Independence Anniversary.
Following his engagements in Saint Lucia, the President travelled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he participated in the 2025 BRICS Summit from July 6 to 7. The summit convened leaders of major emerging economies to deliberate on strategies for sustainable development, economic cooperation, and global financial reforms.
The President’s return flight, a San Marino-registered Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) with registration number T7-NAS, departed Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro at 12:50 p.m. local time (4:50 p.m. Nigerian time) en route to Abuja.
This latest trip adds to President Tinubu’s record of foreign travels since assuming office in May 2023. He has now undertaken at least 41 international trips, covering 28 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas.
France remains the most visited country on his itinerary with six visits, followed by the United Kingdom (four visits) and the United Arab Emirates (three visits). Other notable destinations include the United States, China, India, and Saudi Arabia—highlighting the administration’s global diplomatic outreach and economic engagement strategy.
President Tinubu’s travels have included participation in multilateral summits, bilateral talks, ceremonial state visits, and high-level economic forums.
