Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed profound grief over the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away on Sunday afternoon at a clinic in London.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Senator Kalu described the late President as a true patriot who dedicated his life to national service and left behind an enduring legacy defined by discipline, integrity, and commitment to the Nigerian state.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of our former President Muhammadu Buhari. He was a man of honour, humility, and sacrifice. His contributions to the growth and unity of Nigeria, especially in strengthening our national infrastructure, will never be forgotten,”
Senator Kalu stated.
The former governor extended his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people of Abia North Senatorial District to the people of Daura, the Daura Emirate Council, the government and people of Katsina State, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He urged all affected by the loss to take solace in the impactful life Buhari lived, recalling his enduring dedication to Nigeria even in difficult times.
Senator Kalu also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the former president’s soul:
“May God grant him eternal rest, and may He grant his family and the entire nation the strength to bear this great loss,”
he added.
President Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, was also a former military Head of State between 1983 and 1985.
