The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a stern warning to Nigerians, urging them to avoid transacting with three companies it described as fraudulent, citing fake incorporation documents and registration numbers that were never issued by the commission.

According to the CAC, these entities are operating with forged certificates of incorporation, each bearing two different RC numbers, none of which exist in the commission’s official records.

The affected companies are:

  • SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd with RC Numbers 1265884 and 512862
  • UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd with RC Numbers 1265837 and 553220
  • PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd with RC Numbers 1265844 and 545901

The commission cautioned that any Nigerian who transacts with these firms does so entirely at their own risk.

“Anyone that transacts any business with the above-mentioned companies does so at their own risk,” the commission warned in its statement.

The CAC further advised potential business partners and investors to always verify registration details through its official portal before signing any contracts or making payments.

In a related development, the commission revealed that, as part of ongoing reforms to enhance its services, it introduced an AI-powered business registration platform on July 3.

The new platform is designed to streamline the incorporation process with features such as instant name reservations, automated business-name suggestions, and same-day registration using a National Identification Number (NIN).

Additionally, the CAC announced that it will review its service fees starting August 1, in a bid to make its services more efficient and cost-effective for businesses and individuals across the country.
