Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has voiced strong displeasure over what it described as the “glaring exclusion” of South-East and South-South Nigerians in the recent reconstitution of boards and leadership of strategic federal parastatals under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement issued by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ezechi Chukwu, Ph.D, Ohanaeze noted that prominent federal institutions—including the Bank of Industry and other national agencies—were reconstituted without fair representation from the two regions.
“These important institutions constitute the frontline drivers of national reforms and economic re‑invigoration of the country and therefore deserve inclusivity in the service and progress of Nigeria,” the statement read.
The apex Igbo socio‑cultural body said the pattern of appointments undermines the constitutional principles of fairness and balance.
“Ohanaeze consequently posits that it is sad that such discriminatory appointments and lopsided considerations are reflective of gross compromise of national equity and principles of Federal Character as enshrined in the constitution,” it stated.
The group called on President Tinubu to urgently correct what it described as a “still-redeemable imbalance,” stressing that fairness and inclusivity are vital for national cohesion.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo therefore urges Mr. President to find a way to address this still-redeemable imbalance for the sake of inclusivity, fairness and justice,” Chukwu added.
