Governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday night met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The closed‑door meeting is believed to be connected to preparations for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party scheduled for Thursday.

The talks commenced at 7 p.m. inside the Presidential Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Villa, shortly after Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State—who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum—led his counterparts into the villa. The governors had earlier held a marathon meeting at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

According to Daily Trust, President Tinubu and the governors were expected to “compare notes and take a decision on some crucial issues before the NEC meeting.”

One of the key matters under consideration is whether the position of the APC National Chairman should remain in the North Central zone, where it was originally situated before former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje assumed the role.

Leaders from the North Central zone have in recent months raised concerns over marginalisation and urged the party to return the position to their region.

Among the governors sighted at the meeting were Babajide Sanwo‑Olu of Lagos State and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.
