The Oguakwa family of Umuoha, Umuomee-Inyi, Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State has announced the burial arrangements for their patriarch, Professor James Udengene Oguakwa, Ph.D., a former Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He passed on at the age of 88.
In a funeral arrangement signed by his Son, KGB Oguakwa, Esq., on behalf of the family, they described the late scholar as “a loving father, a dedicated academic, and a man whose impact on education and humanity will forever be remembered.”
According to the arrangements, the funeral rites will commence today, Thursday, July 24, 2025, with a Vigil Mass at Aarons Place, 17 Ibusa Avenue, Independence Layout, Enugu City, by 5:00 p.m.
On Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., a Funeral Mass will hold at St. Mary Catholic Church Parish, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, followed by burial and a funeral reception later the same day at Umuomee, Inyi, Oji-River LGA, Enugu State.
The final thanksgiving will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church Parish (SOWP), Housing Estate, Abakpa, Enugu City.
“We invite friends, associates, and well-wishers to join us in celebrating a life well spent in service to God, the nation, and humanity,” KGB added.
Prof. Oguakwa is survived by his son, daughters, grandchildren, brother, sisters, nephews, nieces, and numerous relatives.
