The Enugu East Local Government Area, under the visionary leadership of Engr. Pst. Beloved‑Dan Obi Anike, has flagged off an ambitious youth empowerment initiative by sponsoring 20 young people for an intensive aviation training program at the Universal School of Aviation, Lagos State.
The selected trainees, who departed Enugu earlier this week, have since arrived safely at the Lagos training center. Their program, which has already commenced, focuses on Aviation Management and is designed to open up new career opportunities for them in Nigeria’s growing aviation sector.
According to the council Chairman, the program is part of a larger plan to equip youths with modern, employable skills that will drive economic growth and sustainable development in Enugu East LGA.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to human capital development. We are determined to empower our youths and women, ensuring they have the skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive economy,” Engr. Anike council noted.
The council revealed that over 200 applications were received for the program, with more than 100 candidates already screened. These will be enrolled in subsequent batches covering diverse fields within the aviation industry, including:
- Airline Ticketing/Reservation
- Cabin Crew/Flight Attendant
- Customer Service Management
- Flight Dispatch
- Helicopter Landing Officer
- Hotel Management
- Tourism and Hospitality Travel Agency Management
- Visa Application/Processing
The administration, led by Engr. Anike, is also preparing to roll out a landmark initiative known as the “One Youth – One Skill Program,” which aims to train over 500 youths across 22 different skill sets.
“This is more than just training; it is a new beginning for our young people. We are investing in their future so they can, in turn, contribute meaningfully to the future of Enugu East,” Engr. Anike emphasized.
With this bold step, Enugu East LGA is positioning itself as a hub of opportunities, ensuring that its youths are equipped not only to secure jobs but also to create them—ushering in a brighter, more prosperous future for the entire community.
