A pro-political group, Orji Uzor Kalu, OUK Movement in Arochukwu Local Government Area, has dismissed the signatories of the August 2, 2025 communiqué on the 2027 Abia North Senatorial seat as “political jesters” with no electoral relevance in their various wards and LGAs.
In a statement signed by Hon. Precious Ngwu, Chairman of the OUK Movement Arochukwu LGA, on Sunday, the group described the signatories as impostors who are neither members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) nor credible stakeholders. Rather, he alleged they are card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), working for “an unpopular element desperately seeking political relevance.”
Ngwu lambasted some of the attendees of the “so-called meeting,” accusing them of having previously served the state as commissioners without any legacy or notable achievements. He noted that they all failed to deliver their polling units in the last election and that even those who held elective and appointive positions have no tangible accomplishments to their names in Ohafia LGA.
Responding to their claims of marginalization, Ngwu recalled that Ohafia LGA had previously produced Senator Onyeka Okoroafor, who represented the zone in the Senate. He also cited the example of the late Chief Ojo Maduekwe from Ohafia, who held several high-profile national offices including Minister of Transportation, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Special Adviser to the President, National Secretary of the PDP, and Nigerian Ambassador to Canada—serving a cumulative 16 years.
He further argued that Ohafia LGA has enjoyed significant political presence in recent years. According to him, the current and immediate past Deputy Governors—both from the area—have served a combined 12 years. In addition, Rt. Hon. Arua Arunsi and Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu served as former Speakers of the Abia State House of Assembly, while Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu was Deputy Speaker. He also noted that the current Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency and the Governor of Abia State are both from the same constituency, which also currently holds the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) position and other key political offices.
Describing Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the “Ikenga of Ohafia” and a proven performer, Ngwu listed several developmental interventions by the Senator in Ohafia. These include tarred roads and electricity projects in Nkporo Okwe, road projects in Abiriba communities, and the Ebem–Asaga–Ndi Ibe–Amuma–Okon–Amangwu Ohafia road, which he termed a legacy project from Kalu’s time as governor. He also mentioned ongoing road construction in Ndi Orieke, Abia, Isiugwu, and Ndi Uduma Awoke, as well as the renovation and construction of over 50 schools in the LGA.
“Outside of Profs. Eni Njoku and Kalu Ezera, nobody can be compared to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in all developmental ramifications for Ohafia people,” Ngwu asserted.
Ngwu maintained that there is nothing wrong if Senator Kalu, whom he described as a performing leader, continues in the Senate beyond 2031.
“Leadership should be about competence, delivery, and the will of the people, not sectional entitlement or manufactured grievances,” he said.
He called on the people of Abia North to reject divisive politics and instead rally around unity, progress, and effective representation.
