MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has provided an update on the recent difficulties experienced by Enugu residents in purchasing prepaid electricity tokens, assuring that efforts are underway to resolve the issue.
MainPower explained that the challenge arose from a technical glitch encountered by its ICT team during the implementation of the new tariff approved by the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC), which took effect on August 1, 2025.
“This situation is due to a technical glitch encountered by our ICT team during the implementation of the new tariff approved by the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC),” the management stated.
According to the update, the process required “ring-fencing Enugu State from the broader distribution network (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Imo States) to enable the application of the new tariff specifically for Band A customers in Enugu State.”
MEDL advised affected customers to use its EnergyPay platform — preferably selecting the debit card payment option — at https://energypay.myeedc.com/ or visit any MainPower cash office to purchase energy tokens.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience this may have caused and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete the implementation process,” the statement added.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable and efficient service to all customers in Enugu State.
