Imo State-based journalist, Comrade Eze Adiuku, has been elected as the new Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for Zone C (South East).
His election came through a bye-election during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in Kano State. Chairmen and Secretaries from the South East unanimously endorsed him for the position.
Comrade Adiuku, an alumnus of the University of Calabar and the International Institute of Journalism, has served the NUJ in various capacities over the years.
According to the Media Unit of the Office of the Vice President, Zone C, “He had served as Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman for the Forum of Newspaper Editors in Imo State. He also served the NUJ as Chairman, Credentials Committee as well as Ex-Officio and Assistant Secretary in Imo Council.”
“At the chapel level, he had served as Financial Secretary and Secretary at various times,” the statement added.
Before his emergence as Vice President for the South East, Adiuku was serving his second term as Zonal Secretary of the zone.
He is also celebrated as the first journalist from Imo State to attain the position of NUJ Vice President in the union’s history.
