The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Anambra State, Uzu Okagbue, has launched a scathing attack on Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, accusing him of insulting the intelligence and dignity of Ndi Anambra by relying on what he described as “money politics and empty theatrics” ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
Okagbue, in a statement on Saturday, said Soludo has consistently underestimated the resolve of the people, treating them as though they are forgetful and easily swayed.
“From the onset, Prof. Soludo operated on one belittling assumption — that Ndi Anambra are a forgetful and easily swayed people. His politics rests on the insulting conviction that you can insult them today, trample on their dignity tomorrow, and when the season of reckoning draws near, you simply stage a shallow act of contrition, dole out money here and there, sprinkle a few patronizing promises, and they will rush back singing your praises,” Okagbue said.
He accused the governor of orchestrating “a cheap spectacle” on August 16, 2025, which, according to him, was nothing more than a dress rehearsal of what Soludo plans to repeat in November.
“The tragedy is that his endless disdain, not only for the political class but for Ndi Anambra in their entirety, flows directly from this principle. He believes the people lack memory, lack pride, and lack resolve; that with token naira notes flung in their direction, all his failures and insults would be forgotten,” the YPP candidate added.
Okagbue declared that the November 8 poll will be a referendum on Soludo’s leadership style and his alleged manipulation of the people.
“But November 8, 2025, stands as the hour of reckoning. Ndi Anambra must now deliver their verdict — whether they will bow yet again to this cheap manipulation of doling out money and empty theatrics, or whether they will rise, in unambiguous rejection, and bury this contemptuous principle once and for all,” he stated.
