The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has announced a planned power outage that will affect customers in Anambra State, as well as Oji River and adjoining communities in Enugu State.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by Emeka Ezeh, Group Head, Corporate Communications at EEDC, the outage will last for two days, beginning Sunday, August 31, 2025, through Monday, September 1, 2025, from 9:00am to 6:00pm daily.

Ezeh explained that the outage is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) maintenance crew to replace faulty overhead stack porcelain insulators at its 330kV switch yard in Awada.

“Consequently, electricity supply to customers in the affected areas will be interrupted during the maintenance period,” he said.

He added that the exercise is aimed at enhancing the quality of power supply across the affected areas once completed.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appeal for our customers’ understanding, as the exercise is aimed at improving and enhancing the quality of service,” Ezeh noted.
