All is now set for the Jands Travel Business School (JTBS) Domestic Tourism Conference scheduled to take place on September 5–6, 2025, at the Ofuobi Africa Centre, Enugu, beginning at 9am.
Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi (CON), will deliver the keynote address at the highly anticipated conference.
Director of JTBS, Mrs. Chioma Obi, who announced the event on Monday, disclosed that the theme of this year’s conference is: “The Future of Domestic Tourism in Nigeria: Embracing Our Arts and Culture.”
Mrs. Obi further revealed that Mr. Peter Obi will speak on the topic titled: “Where is Nigeria going? Tourism, Culture, And The Future We Are Failing To Build.”
She also confirmed that other prominent speakers expected at the conference include Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Chief Ben Etiaba FCA – Board Chairman of JTBS, Monsignor Prof. Obiora Ike – Founder of CIDJAP, and Dame Elizabeth Oyibo Agu – former Director and Pioneer Branch Controller, CBN Asaba, among other notable personalities.
The Jands boss explained that the event will bring together key stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond to engage in critical conversations and actions aimed at deepening the appreciation, investment, and structure of domestic tourism in the country.
“Objectives of the 2025 Conference are to promote domestic tourism as a sustainable economic driver for youth and women as well as provide a platform for policy engagement, creative industry synergy, and destination branding,” she said.
Mrs. Obi urged members of the public to participate actively, stating: “Get ready to be inspired, challenged, and empowered as we explore new pathways for growth in Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry. Attendance is FREE but registration is a must.”
It will be recalled that the Chairman, Board of Trustees of JTBS, Chief Ben Etiaba, had earlier announced that the 2025 edition of the travel business school’s annual domestic tourism conference would inspire and empower many people in the growth of tourism and hospitality in the country.
Chief Etiaba FCA, who spoke to journalists shortly after the inauguration of the conference planning committee, stressed that the initiative was designed to promote tourism in the Southeast geo-political zone and Nigeria at large, noting that the theme of this year’s edition is both apt and timely.
Also speaking, Monsignor Professor Obiora Ike, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Jos, and Professor of Ethics and Intercultural Studies at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, as well as Advisor to the JTBS Board of Trustees, affirmed that the conference aligns with the school’s mission of repositioning tourism as a tool for economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and youth development.
