Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has announced that three of his constituents from Abia North Senatorial District have departed Nigeria for China to pursue postgraduate studies under the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) scheme, facilitated through the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation.
The beneficiaries are:
- Sunny O. Idika (Ohafor Ward, Ohafia LGA), admitted for an MBA programme at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.
- Emmanuel Iheakachukwu Odoemelam (Eziama Agbo Ward, Nneato, Umunneochi LGA), admitted for a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT).
- Kingsley Onwukwe Orji (Igbere Ward A, Bende LGA), admitted for an MBA programme at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.
Senator Kalu, who facilitated the awards through his foundation, expressed joy at the opportunity being granted to young people in his constituency.
“I am delighted to announce that three of my constituents have departed Nigeria for China to pursue their postgraduate studies on fully sponsored scholarships through the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), facilitated by the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation,” he stated.
He explained that the scholarship package covers tuition, accommodation, health insurance, and monthly stipends, ensuring the beneficiaries can focus fully on their studies.
Kalu added that the initiative aligns with his long-standing commitment to human capital development, stressing that education remains a key driver of sustainable growth.
“The future of our country rests on empowering our young people with the right knowledge, skills, and exposure. I am proud that, through this scholarship, our youths will not only gain world-class education but also bring back valuable expertise to help build Nigeria,” he said.
The Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation has, over the years, facilitated several scholarship opportunities within and outside Nigeria, with the senator maintaining that education will remain a priority in his interventions for his constituents.
