Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has confirmed a major service outage in Enugu and Benue States, leaving thousands of subscribers cut off from voice and data services.
The disruption, which began on Saturday, 6th September 2025, is reportedly linked to a fiber cut affecting the network’s backbone in the affected states.
In a message to its customers, MTN stated:
“Dear Customer, we’re experiencing network challenges in some parts of Benue and Enugu States due to fiber cut, and our services may be temporarily unavailable as a result. Our engineers are working to restore services as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
The outage has sparked frustration among users who have taken to social media to complain about their inability to make calls or access the internet.
MTN assured that its technical team is working round the clock to fix the problem and restore full connectivity.
