The Enugu State Government has unveiled Batch 2 of the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training (EMAT), a flagship program designed to equip young residents with world-class digital skills and connect them to opportunities in the global creative economy.

Organized by the Enugu SME Center in partnership with Magic City Labs, the initiative offers training in 2D Illustration and 3D Motion Design, with participants benefiting from up to 80% subsidized fees.

According to the organizers, more than 400 residents of Enugu State will take part in this second batch. The program builds on the success of Batch 1, which saw hundreds of young people trained, many of whom are now working internationally.

“Some of our Batch 1 graduates are already freelancing globally, while others are building their own studios,” the organizers said. “All of them started with a simple decision: to apply.”

The program, officials noted, is powered by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s “Tomorrow is Here” agenda, which prioritizes digital economy development and youth empowerment.

Speaking on the initiative, the Enugu SME Center emphasized that the program is open strictly to residents and indigenes of Enugu State, and no prior experience is required. “All you need is talent, commitment, and curiosity,” the agency stated.

The training is facilitated by mentors whose students have secured placements with international studios such as Netflix, Disney, Triggerfish, and other leading African animation companies.

“This is not just about art, it’s about economic empowerment,” the organizers stressed. “Animation is more than creativity—it is a passport to the global economy.”

Applications are now open via the official portal: www.enugusme.en.gov.ng/emat.

For those who missed Batch 1, officials urged them not to miss this second chance. “The next success story could be yours,” they said.

  1. Kudos to the governor of Enugu state, Gov peter Mbah. For his visionary leadership on youths empowerment, training the youths on global digital industrialization is one the global economic drives that has a sustainable benefit.
I wish other states should emulate governor Mbah’s initiative capable of taken our tomorrows leaders off restiveness and other social vices. This is a laudable leadership drive I must say.
