A pastor in Benue State, Kelvin Imo, has been remanded at the Correctional Centre in Makurdi for allegedly raping a church member who had come to him for counselling and prayers.
Imo, who resides along Gboko Road in Makurdi, was charged with rape before a magistrate court.
The Chief Magistrate ordered his remand and adjourned the case to October 8, 2025, for mention.
In her complaint, the victim said she visited the church on April 22, 2025, to see the accused, who was her pastor, for prayer and counselling.
According to her, “After praying for me, he used a handkerchief to clean my face, which made me lose consciousness. Thereafter, I could not struggle, and he had carnal knowledge of me inside the church.”
