The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), in partnership with the Enugu State Government through the Enugu SME Center/Office of Digital Economy, has unveiled the DBN Entrepreneurship Training Program (DETP) – Enugu Edition, a comprehensive initiative designed to equip entrepreneurs with world-class skills, certification, and access to funding.

Speaking on the program, organisers described DETP as “a gateway to real growth” for business owners across Enugu and Abia States.

“Whether you’re a fashion entrepreneur in Ogbete, a food processor in Nsukka, or a tech founder in Independence Layout — this program is built for YOU,” the organisers stated.

The program offers participants:

  • 11 World-Class Business Courses – covering accounting, credit management, marketing, and sustainability, accessible via a self-paced online portal.
  • Official DBN Certificates – industry-recognised certificates that validate skills and enhance investor confidence.
  • 3-Day In-Person Workshop – featuring top entrepreneurs, business coaches, and financial institutions, to be held in Enugu or Abia.
  • Pitch Competition with ₦100 Million Grant Pool – where selected finalists will pitch their ideas, with each winning business able to secure up to ₦5 million.

Eligibility criteria include: having a CAC-registered business with at least two years of operation, being based in Enugu or Abia, and completing the full online training curriculum.

The online training must be completed by October 31, 2025, while the in-person workshop and pitch competition will hold from November 10–14, 2025.

Explaining the motivation behind the initiative, the organisers said the program is for business owners who want to:

  • structure their businesses for sustainable growth,
  • become funding-ready and bankable,
  • pitch to real funders and win,
  • and invest in their own development.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply through the official Enugu State DETP portal at enugusme.en.gov.ng/detp.

The organisers emphasized:
