The Councillor representing Obollo Afor Ward in Udenu Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Odo, has flagged off a “Back to School Project,” donating educational materials worth over ₦500,000 to pupils across schools in his ward.
Speaking during the initiative, Dr. Odo said the project was in fulfillment of his promise to always give back to the people for the “huge support” they continually give him.
“By the special grace of God, I will be visiting two schools within my ward to donate educational materials worth over 500,000. This is part of my promise to the people I represent that I will always give back to them for the huge support they always give me,” he stated.
The Councillor noted that the intervention was timely, coming at the beginning of a new academic session when parents were grappling with fresh expenses.
“Parents are spending fortunes to send their children to school. This is first term and the children will be required to change uniforms, buy new books, writing materials, etc. I hope that through this project we will meet the needs of as many children as possible,” he said.
Dr. Odo also dedicated the project to supporting Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration, which he praised for its massive investment in education.
“Furthermore, this project is to demonstrate my love and support for the administration of His Excellency Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who is investing massively in the educational sector. You can imagine the joy and happiness in every child when they receive their package—all to the glory of God,” he added.
Reacting to the gesture, a community leader, Amos Nnadi, commended Odo’s consistency in serving the people despite personal political challenges.
“We are indeed fortunate to have visionary leaders like Dr. Hon. Nnamdi Odo, who personifies the true essence of humanity and politics. His unwavering commitment to serving the people and giving back to the community is a beacon of hope, exemplifying the qualities that define a dedicated public servant,” Nnadi said.
He noted that the initiative would ease the burden on parents struggling under Nigeria’s current economic realities.
“The recent initiative to visit schools within his ward, sharing educational materials worth over 500,000 naira, is yet another testament to his selfless nature. This thoughtful gesture will undoubtedly alleviate the burden of numerous parents, especially considering the current economic challenges facing our nation,” he added.
Nnadi also recalled some of Dr. Odo’s past interventions, including a ₦1 million fuel support package for commercial motorcyclists in Obollo, stressing that his leadership had been defined by consistent acts of generosity.
“Despite navigating through tumultuous waters, including his impeachment and suspension from the local government, Dr. Odo’s dedication to the welfare of his people remains unshaken. This is not an isolated instance of his kindness; rather, it is part of a consistent pattern of demonstrating his love for the community through various initiatives. His remarkable gesture of buying fuel for all the okada riders in Obollo, worth over 1 million naira, is still etched in our memories,” he said.
He further urged that Odo be given higher political responsibility, insisting that his capacity to deliver had already been proven.
“If Dr. Odo has achieved so much as a councillor, imagine the profound impact he could make if given the opportunity to serve in a higher capacity. His selflessness, commitment to the people, and tireless efforts to improve the lives of those around him are qualities that make him an exemplary leader. We are truly blessed to have leaders like Dr. Odo, and we eagerly look forward to seeing more of his good work,” he said.
Nnadi concluded by aligning Odo’s efforts with Governor Mbah’s vision for Enugu State. “The ‘Tomorrow is Here’ administration is making a difference, and His Excellency Peter Mbah is an inspiration for leaders like Dr. Hon. Nnamdi Odo.”
