The Ekiti State Government has announced a ban on graduation ceremonies for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, primary, and secondary schools across both public and private institutions in the state.

The policy, which takes effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, was communicated in a circular issued by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Mike Omolayo.

According to the circular, the decision is aimed at reducing undue financial pressure on parents and curbing the excesses often associated with such ceremonies.

The document further explained that the state government remains committed to textbook review policies, noting that primary school books would now be reviewed once every six years, while secondary school textbooks would move from a three-year review cycle to a four-year cycle.

It also urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the new system by allowing siblings to reuse textbooks, provided the books remain in good condition.
