The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has approved the creation of 15 new Dioceses across the country, bringing the total number of Dioceses to 176.
The approval was given on Thursday at the ongoing Standing Committee Meeting of the church, holding in Ekiti State.
According to the resolution, while five of the new jurisdictions are full-fledged Dioceses, the remaining 10 are Missionary Dioceses.
The meeting, which is being attended by all the Bishops, as well as clergymen and laity delegates, deliberated extensively before giving approval.
