Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s president, Paul Biya, has publicly urged Cameroonians not to vote for her father in the October 2025 election.

In a TikTok live session, Brenda—popularly known as “King Nasty”—blamed her father’s 43-year rule for widespread poverty, unemployment, and stagnation in Cameroon.

This development marks the first time in African political history that the child of a sitting president has openly opposed their parent’s rule and directly discouraged voters from re-electing them.

Paul Biya, 92, is one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. His presidency has been repeatedly marred by allegations of authoritarianism, corruption, and controversial elections.

However, critics argue that Brenda, who resides abroad in luxury, has long had a strained relationship with her family. They suggest her views may not fully represent the lived realities of ordinary Cameroonians.
