Fidelity Advert

The Federal Ministry of Environment has issued a flood prediction for 15 states and 69 locations, warning that heavy rainfall between September 24 and 28, 2025, may trigger flooding in several communities.

The National Flood Early Warning Centre of the Ministry announced this in a flood alert released on Wednesday and signed by the Director of the Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani.

According to the Ministry, the advisory forms part of its routine early-warning system aimed at preventing the loss of lives and property during the peak of the rainy season.

Flooding remains one of Nigeria’s most recurring natural disasters, displacing thousands of people every year, destroying infrastructure, and threatening food security.

Data from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) revealed that as of September 20, 2025, no fewer than 232 persons had lost their lives, while 121,224 others were displaced following floods across parts of the country. The agency added that at least 339,658 people had been affected, with 681 sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

The FEW Centre warned: *“Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in 15 states across the country between 24th and 28th September, 2025. This may lead to flooding in the following locations and their environs.
