The Federal Government has announced the official theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, tagged “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

According to the government, the theme underscores the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among all stakeholders—including the public sector, private sector, civil society, and ordinary citizens—in building a nation defined by sustainable peace, prosperity, and progress.

“The theme speaks directly to the times we are in. Since independence in 1960, Nigeria has weathered storms, overcome challenges, and achieved significant progress across diverse economic sectors. What we need now is a renewed collective effort to solidify these gains and pursue greater national aspirations,” said Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

Government officials emphasized that all activities and programmes of ministries, agencies, and parastatals will align with the official theme to ensure its message resonates across every aspect of national life, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Highlighting the significance of the milestone, Imohiosen added: “Nigeria at 65 is not just a time for celebration but also a reminder that the future of our nation rests in the hands of all citizens working together to achieve a stronger, more prosperous country.”

As part of the activities lined up to commemorate the Independence Anniversary, a Juma’at Prayer will be held on Friday, September 26 at 1 p.m., followed by an Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, September 28 at 10 a.m. The celebrations will also feature a World Press Conference scheduled for Monday, September 29 at 10 a.m.

The government expressed confidence that the anniversary theme would inspire Nigerians across all walks of life to rededicate themselves to national service and the pursuit of unity and development.
